“FURNITURE MADE IN GABON BY GABONESE FROM GABON SUSTAINABLE FORESTS.” (13th to 14th May 2024)
⸻⸻
On 13 to 14 May 2024, the Ministry of Water and Forests held an exhibition with the theme “A Forestry Industry at the Heart of Gabon’s Development” to highlight the significant growth in Gabon’s timber industry. The number of wood processing units increased from 85 in 2010 to 217 in 2023, driven by a 2010 ban on log exports and a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) offering tax incentives. Despite this growth, further efforts are needed to develop the artisanal sector and enhance regulatory supervision. The event served as a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and showcased Gabon’s potential as a hub for sustainable wood production, emphasized by Minister Maurice Ntossui Allogo.
